9/12/2023 0 Comments Bible verse about life being fair![]() Our children didn't turn out like we dreamed. We married and raised families, but marriages can grow cold, followed by separation, and in some cases, divorce. We studied hard, but didn't get the jobs we wanted. When we were young we didn't get everything we thought we deserved. He is also gracious, merciful, and forgiving.Resonates with everyday life. No one, though, is being punished beyond what he or she deserves. Those who believe are receiving far better than they deserve. Their punishment is fair (John 3:18, 36). Those who do not respond will receive what they truly deserve because of their rejection of Him. But, when God draws our hearts and opens our minds, we have the opportunity to respond to the revelation of the creation around us (Psalm 19:1–3) and the conscience within us (Romans 2:15) and turn to God. Those whom God has chosen are receiving God’s love and grace. Those who refuse to turn to Him receive precisely what they deserve and desire. God saving some is not unfair to those who remain unsaved. While this might seem unfair in the eyes of man, it is not. God predestines who will be saved, and we must also choose Christ in order to be saved. Somehow, in the mystery of God, predestination works hand-in-hand with a person being drawn by God (John 6:44) and believing unto salvation (Romans 1:16). The truths of God’s sovereign predestination and also man’s responsibility are not mutually exclusive. The Bible never describes God rejecting anyone who believes in Him or turning away anyone who is seeking Him (Deuteronomy 4:29). All who turn to Him based on what they know of Him, as Rahab did, will be saved. Romans 1:26 tells us: "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."Īll who believe in Jesus Christ will be saved (John 3:16 Romans 10:9-10). While it might appear this way, the Bible also says that we must respond to what God has revealed about Himself. In election, it appears that God is not treating all people equally. Some argue that this does not seem “fair” in the eyes of those who believe fairness requires everyone to be treated exactly the same way. According to Romans 8:29-30, God predetermined that certain individuals would be conformed to the likeness of His Son, be called, justified, and glorified. He treats no one wrongly.ĭespite God’s loving grace, no one would believe in Him on his own (Romans 3:10–18). Peter, standing in a Gentile’s home and seeing the work of the Holy Spirit, said, “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right” (Acts 10:34–35). God is “fair” in that He is unbiased, honest, and just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he” (Deuteronomy 32:4 see also 2 Chronicles 19:7 Romans 9:14 and 2 Thessalonians 1:6). A synonym for fair is just, and the Bible is unequivocal that God is just: “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just.
